It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 28

Congress of the European Society for
Paediatric Urology. The annual ESPU Congress will be held in the beautiful Mediterranean
city of Barcelona for the first time in its history.
The venue chosen for the event will be the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya which
is within easy reach of downtown Barcelona. This elegant and spectacular Centre offers
world class meeting and exhibition facilities, a wealth of experience and a friendly atmos-
phere. It is located on the Avenida Diagonal, the most prestigious avenue and business
center in Barcelona. Surrounded by the exceptional garden of the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos
I and the exclusive Royal Club de Polo, it has excellent and fast access to the airport
and good public transport connections including the subway, bus and taxi. The Congress
Centre is part of the “Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I Business & City Resort”, a vast complex with
facilities devoted to provide the very highest standard and quality in catering, hospitality,

The host city, Barcelona, is one of Europe’s great cultural cities, renowned for its unique
blend of historical tradition, modernist architecture, museum and art galleries (Picasso,
Dalí, Miró, etc), rich and varied gastronomy, exciting nightlife and fine beaches. Barcelona
is well connected by road, rail and air to the major cities in Spain and Europe.
As in previous ESPU meetings the scientific programme will provide an excellent op-
portunity to share knowledge and allow broad and in-depth discussion on recent
advances in Paediatric Urology and we are confident that delegates will have the op-
portunity to renew old friendships and make new ones and to take part in interesting
social programmes.
