CONGRESS OF THE ESPU
Word of Welcome
Welcome to Helsinki!!
We are guest in the capital of the great country of Finland: Helsinki. Finland has it all.
From the incredible scattering of islands in Europe’s largest archipelago, to the hilly
countryside of Lapland, the landscape of Finland is a pristine paradise for nature lovers.
Of course, your host Seppo Taskinen will tell you more about “his country”.
As the ESPU annual meetings move throughout Europe, the main objective of our annual
meeting is to bring people together with a special interest to improve the care of children
and their family with a “Pediatric Urological” problem.
This is our 29
th
annual meeting and I am proud to say that ESPU has become a “global”
meeting point for Pediatric Urologists, Pediatric Urology nurses and associated Pediatric
specialists. We specifically welcome our colleagues, Pediatric Surgeons, Pediatric
Nephrologists, Pediatric Endocrinologist, Pediatricians, Urotherapists, Physiotherapists,
Researchers and any other caregivers or caretakers who “care” about Pediatric Urology.
It is our tradition that we cover history, basic and clinical research, new diagnostic and
treatment options, and probably also discuss the “classic ones”. It is also a moment
to meet the “industry” around the Pediatric Urological care: tools, instruments
and pharmaceutical products that also improve the care of our Pediatric Urology patient.
I am exceptionally proud that my mentor, Barry Kogan will join our meeting and give the
John Duckett lecture of 2018.
I am also happy to see how the Educational Committee, the Research Committee and the
Young Pediatric Urology Club are active and will play a role in this ESPU meeting.
ESPU is here for you, so again, please tell us what we can do for you.
Our wish is that, after this 29
th
ESPU annual meeting, you will go home and that we have
inspired you,
Guy Bogaert
President of ESPU
